The duo are incoming four-star senior quarterbacks who have committed to the fierce conference rivals. Each will play this season for Early Contender Top 25 teams, Martell at No. 3
Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) and McCaffrey at No. 25
Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.).
McCaffrey is a lanky 6-foot-5, 196-pound pro-style quarterback ranked the No. 39 recruit overall in the country by 247Sports. He's ranked No. 2 in the country overall at his position. He's thrown for 5,227 yards and 49 touchdowns in his three-year varsity career and rushed for 1,156 yards and 26 touchdowns.
McCaffrey is the brother of Heisman Trophy candidate and Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey and son of former NFL receiver Ed McCaffrey.
Martell, a 5-10, 203-pounder, is the No. 43 recruit overall and No. 4 quarterback. A dual threat with great feet and a strong arm, Martell has throw for 5,145 yards and 72 touchdowns in two seasons at Bishop Gorman. He's rushed for 1,037 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Both players are considered dynamic personalities and leaders and each has led their teams to state titles. They figure to be high-profile players at their high-profile FBS schools for years to come.
McCaffrey committed to Jim Harbaugh and Michigan on Feb. 15 while Martell pledged to Urban Meyer and Ohio State on June 12 after flipping from Texas A&M.
