Lincoln County (Panaca) senior guard
Dantley Walker's 62-point performance against Needles (Calif.) on Jan. 7 is the second-highest output in the country so far this season.
The season high of 63 points was set in December by East (Aurora, Ill.) senior guard Ryan Boatright, who signed with the University of Connecticut.
Walker also had 14 assists and 11 rebounds in the 100-97 overtime win over Needles. The small-school standout is closing in on the Nevada state record for points held by Galena (Reno) star Luke Babbitt, who scored 2,941 points during his career.
STALLWORTH OUT FOR SEASONMcQueen (Reno) senior
Rollins Stallworth will have surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee and will miss the remainder of the basketball season, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.
Stallworth was averaging 13.3 points per game and is regarded as one of the top prospects in northern Nevada. He helped the Lancers to the state tournament as a junior.
Stallworth was injured near the end of the football season and was knocked out of the Class 4A state semifinal victory over Liberty with a concussion. He missed the state title game loss to Bishop Gorman. It is not clear when Stallworth injured his knee, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.
"They think it happened a while back," the elder Rollins Stallworth told the newspaper.
Stallworth is being recruited as a wide receiver in football and also has track offers from Air Force and Stanford.
