This month's update includes final rankings from the fall sports season as well as national rankings for boys and girls basketball, boys and girls winter soccer, boys wrestling and boys and girls ice hockey. Boys and girls swimming rankings have also been adjusted from the fall to include teams that compete in the winter. No state championship points for the winter season have been awarded yet.
Aquinas jumped nearly 240 points thanks to a No. 25 ranking in the latest MaxPreps Top 25 by Jordan Divens and a No. 6 ranking in girls soccer.

JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) also made a significant jump from No. 30 to No. 14. The Lions are ranked No. 1 in boys soccer for the winter season. No. 15 is
Madison Central (Madison, Miss.), which rose from No. 29 thanks in part to a No. 3 national ranking in boys soccer.
The MaxPreps Cup is a competition that recognizes the top high school athletic programs in the country. The standings are determined by an algorithm based on state championships, state runner-up finishes and national rankings. Points are weighted based on size of state, popularity of sport, size of classification and number of schools competing in the classification.
Carmel (Ind.) maintained its lead from the fall season and added over 100 points to its total after joining the girls swimming rankings by SwimCloud. No. 2
Baylor (Chattanooga, Tenn.) closed the gap to 50 points (1,510-1,460) based on its ranking in girls swimming.
