One of the top running backs in the Bay Area for the past three seasons, Austin Jones of Bishop O'Dowd bows out of his high school career as the MaxPreps 2018 Medium Schools All-State Player of the Year.
Headed to play at Stanford next year, Jones finished his career with 6,902 yards, including 2,005 his senior year. He led the Dragons to a North Coast Section Division II championship and a 12-2 record (Bishop O'Dowd did not play in the CIF Bowl Games due to the Camp Fire).
Josh Henderson of Grace Brethren (Simi Valley) is the Medium Schools Coach of the Year. One year after losing to Saint Francis (Mountain View) in the Division 2-A Bowl Game, Grace Brethren won the Class 2-AA Bowl Game over Del Oro 21-14. The win is the highlight of Henderson's nine-year career with the Lancers. Over the past five seasons, his teams are 61-9 including 14-2 in 2018.
Players for the Medium Schools All-State team play in enrollment divisions generally between 1,000 and 2,000 students of in the medium-level divisions based on competitive equity.
