SEASON OUTLOOK

Last year's California Division II champs will likely do some damage in the Open Division this season.

Toughest game: A September road game against Narbonne will provide Serra an opportunity to exact revenge for last year's 22-9 defeat.
Question mark: Who replaces Malik Roberson? He was primed for a monster season, but there's no clear replacement for him. Can the backfield put together enough to compensate for the lost production?
Local outlook: Serra likely has more talent on its roster than any other team in the area. Still, it's much smaller than most of the other teams that will likely vie for a potential Open Division Bowl bid.
Overall outlook: With an embarrassment of talent riches, there's a very good chance Serra rolls through the regular season unscathed. Altenberg's program has played in CIF Bowl Games in two of the last three seasons. They will likely make another trip to the Home Depot Center, potentially representing Southern California in the Open Division game.
