Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Cameron Boozer of
Columbus (Miami) is the 2024-25 Florida MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-9 senior forward led the Explorers to a 27-3 record and their fourth consecutive state championship.
For the season, Boozer averaged 22.6 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.0 steals per contest. He shot 62.0 percent from the field, 46.7 percent from 3-point range and 80.4 percent from the free throw line.

Boozer has won at every stop in his high school basketball career with four state
championships, three Nike EYBL Peach Jam titles and two gold medals with USA Basketball. He helped Columbus go 112-14 during his time with the program.
In his career, Boozer compiled 2,542 points and 1,365 rebounds while posting 100 double-doubles in 120 games.
Regarded as the No. 2 prospect in the Class of 2025 according to
247Sports, the Duke signee has earned MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year, MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year and MaxPreps National Junior of the Year in successive seasons along with MaxPreps National Player of the Year during his sophomore campaign.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 8. Past selections include 2023-24 All-NBA picks Devin Booker (2014), Jalen Brunson (2014, 2015), Anthony Davis (2011), Kevin Durant (2006), Anthony Edwards (2019) and Jayson Tatum (2014, 2015, 2016).
