Dancers at a high school football game were pepper sprayed by police on Thursday night after a dance routine blocked a stadium exit,
according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
After a game that saw
Uintah (Vernal, Utah) down home team
Union (Roosevelt, Utah), 17-14, the dancers were performing the Haka, a traditional Polynesian dance, near the exit gate.
In video of the incident, it appears that police tried to make a path through the dancers to allow players and officials to exit the field. One person in the video can be heard yelling "Make a hole!"
When that failed, police began to use pepper spray to disperse the dancers, causing an even greater uproar.
"They were confused as to what was going on, and so was everyone else," one fan told the Salt Lake Tribune.
After police began to use the pepper spray, one person can be heard yelling, "I'm going to sue!"

The victory was Uintah's first of the season.
Tanner Seitz kicked a 36-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to win it for the Utes.
