Davaris Daniels, a wide receiver at
Vernon Hills (Ill.) and the son of Washington Redskins defensive end Phillip Daniels, signed a National Letter of Intent with Notre Dame this morning. Daniels starred for Vernon Hills as a receiver, kick returner and defensive back this past season, playing alongside Ohio State recruit and close friend Evan Spencer.
Daniels and Spencer led the Cougars to a 10-2 record, a North Suburban Prairie Conference title and a spot in the Illinois Class 5A playoffs.
Daniels was the only Chicago-area player picked to play in the Under Armour All-American Game. He chose Notre Dame over Miami, making his final decision during the 2010 season after nearly verbaling to Miami during the summer. He is ranked No. 75 on the
MaxPreps top 100 recruits in the class of 2011.
