On Tuesday evening, February 6th the Osbourn Eagles football team was honored by the MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard.
The event went down at the halftime of the Boys varsity basketball game. Kicking off the ceremony was MaxPreps representative Don Erickson. With the team and coaches standing in front of an extremely enthusiastic crowd, it was announced that Osbourn was one of the top ranked teams in the nation, placing 26th in America. Master Sergeant Michael Bennett of the Virginia Army National Guard addressed the crowd and took the honors in presenting Head Coach Steve Schultze with the MaxPreps Tour of Champions national rankings trophy.
Osbourn High School had an outstanding season as they finished with a perfect 14-0 record and the Virginia State Championships. What is even more remarkable is that this was Osbourn's first state championship in school history. On the way to an undefeated season, Osbourn showed they could win in any fashion. The Eagles out fought a hungry Potomac team in week 3 to win by one point and went on to win 56-0 over Freedom the very next week. Congratulations on a remarkable season and we look forward to the possibility of honoring the team again in '08. Best of luck to the Eagles this fall!
