On January 22, 2008, St. Xavier Bombers were honored by Max Prep Tour or Champions and the Army National Guard for their outstanding achievements. They defeated Mentor to win the state championship and were ranked number two in the NATION.
At the halftime of a Xavier basketball game, Coach Specht and the Bomber football team were presented a bronze trophy by the Ohio National Guard by Lieutenant Colonel Greg Gustafan.
