Statement Game I – Cleveland 41, Rhea County 7
Cleveland quarterback Tucker Tipton showed Rhea County his versatility last Friday night as he ran for 163 yards and scored twice on the ground while throwing two touchdowns to lead the rout for the Blue Raiders.
Cleveland can win Region 4-4A with a win Thursday night against Walker Valley while Rhea County with a win will host a home first round playoff game by finishing second in the region.
Statement Game II – Marion County 34, York 0
York got the best of Marion County twice last season, beating them in week eight of the regular season and again in the first round of the playoffs.
But that was last year.
Marion traveled to Jamestown and got some revenge for last year’s two losses as quarterback Chris Martin rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown and passed for another and Joe Muir added 105 yards on the ground with a touchdown as well.
With a win Friday night, the Warriors will host a first round playoff game against possibly York again.
Statement Game III – David Lipscomb 38, Marshall County 14
David Lipscomb didn’t have University of Tennessee commitment Zach Rogers in its big region game against Marshall County.
It turns out they didn’t him as sophomore running back William Officer ran for four touchdowns and 236 yards and helped the Mustangs win their 19th consecutive win.
Friday Night Stat Stuffers
Ethan Tummins, RB, McEwen – Ran for 280 yards on 25 carries and scored five times in a 36-22 win over Nashville Christian.
Justin Williams, RB, Davidson Academy – Rushed for 215 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 31-21 win over First Assembly Christian School.
Gabriel Hunter, RB, Kingsbury – Rushed for 201 yards and scored five touchdowns on only 20 carries in a 48-13 win over Munford.
Trevon Hall, RB, Greeneville – Rushed for 215 yards and three touchdowns
in a 34-14 win over Morristown East.
Devrin Young, RB, Bearden – Accounted for six total touchdowns, including 269 yards and five touchdowns on the ground in 46-29 win over Sevier Co.
Kyle Martin, RB, Clinton – Had the game winning touchdown and 201 yards rushing in a 34-31 win over Knoxville Central.
Sam Williams, RB, Baylor – Ran for 219 yards and a touchdown in a 28-7 win over Pope John Paul II.
Devon Neely, LB, Meigs County – Made 14 tackles and had a fumble recovery in 27-7 win over Cumberland County.
Matthew Polk, RB, Ooltewah – Rushed for 259 yards on just 10 carries and two touchdowns in 45-7 win over East Ridge.
Cody Jones, QB, Jackson Christian – Completed 21-of-25 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns in 34-0 shutout of Peabody.
William Officer, RB, David Lipscomb – Ran for 236 yards and four touchdowns in 38-14 win over Marshall County.
