Don Bosco Prep and St. Peter's have dominated the "buzz" in the Garden State this season, with the pair taking the top two spots in every state poll.
ÿ
A rematch of last year's non-public state title game seems inevitable. St. Peter's won that contest in 2005.

Don Bosco (5-0) continued its assault on Bergen County opponents with a 35-7 victory over Hackensack. The Ironmen, who have taken control of recent contests in the first quarter, again rose to the occasion early in the contest. Senior signal caller and Louisville-bound Matt Simms hit three different receivers in his three touchdown strikes. Simms completed 14 of 23 passes for 233 yards.

With the regular season winding down, Bosco's key contests will be against local rivals St. Joseph's (Montvale) and Bergen Catholic.
ÿ
St. Peter's (5-0) continued its barrage on Hudson County opponents with its 57th-consecutive victory in their locale with a 55-14 thrashing of Ferris.
ÿ
Junior quarterback Will "The Thrill' Hill threw for a pair of touchdowns in his 143-yard performance, also running for another score. Hill completed five of eight passes and rushed for 83 yards on six carries. Senior running back Shariff Harris rushed for 110 yards on 15 carries and scored on runs of 41 and 1 yards, as he helped St. Peter's to a 34-14 halftime lead.
ÿ
As expected, Hoptacong's Joe Martinek became the state's all-time leading rusher with 221 yards rushing and three touchdowns in his team's 28-7 victory over Kittatinny.
ÿ
Martinek finished the game with 6,808 career yards, overtaking the mark set by Keyport's Ken Carrouse, who rushed for 6,720 yards from 2000-2003. Martinek has 1,255 yards for Hopatcong (5-1) this season.
ÿ
Martinek had a 64-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage. He had already rushed the needed 134 yards in the game's first 15 minutes. He later scored on touchdown runs of three and two yards.
ÿ
"I'm glad to get it over with," Martinek said. "That was real important to me. I thought about all the people who helped me reach this goal because it is those people who mold and make you."
ÿ
Rashad White ran for 298 yards and scored four touchdowns to rally Teaneck, the fourth-ranked team in the MaxPreps rankings, to a 42-14 victory over Nutley.
ÿ
White's 15-yard touchdown run brought Teaneck back to 14- 7 before the end of the first quarter. He later scored on a 73-yard jaunt in the third quarter that pushed Teaneck (4-1) ahead to stay at 21-14.
ÿ
He added a 53-yard run late in the third quarter, and closed his afternoon with a 24-yard score that highlighted a 11-play, 85-yard drive.

To the west, fifth-ranked Phillipsburg (6-0) clinched a Skyland Conference divisional title for the fourth-straight year and extended its unbeaten streak to 18 games with a 28-18 victory over Hunterdon Central.
ÿ
Senior quarterback Justin Viscomi became the school's all-time career passing yardage leader as he passed Bill Snyder's mark of 2,970. Viscomi, who threw for 161 yards, set a new mark of 2,983.
