On Monday evening, January 18th the Lakeland Dreadnaughts football team was honored by the MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard.
The event went down at the halftime of the Boys varsity basketball game. Kicking off the ceremony was MaxPreps representative Peter De Rogatis. With the team and coaches standing in front of an extremely enthusiastic crowd, it was announced that Webb City was one of the top ranked teams in the nation, placing number 17 in America. SSG Michael Vasseur of the Missouri Army National Guard addressed the crowd and took the honors in presenting Head Coach Bill Castle with the MaxPreps Tour of Champions national rankings trophy.
Lakeland High School had an outstanding season as they finished with a perfect 15-0 record and the Florida State Championships. On the way to an undefeated season, Lakeland showed they could win in any fashion. The Dreadnaughts won by a great disparity against Jenkins with a final score of 78-0, while also winning three games by just three points. Congratulations on a remarkable season and we look forward to the possibility of honoring the team again in '08. Best of luck to the Dreadnaughts this fall!
