BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame and Louisiana High School Athletic Association would like to invite everyone to the Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame open house on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. The Hall of Fame's first permanent home since its establishment, is located in 2,000 square feet of the recently constructed LHSAA office located at 12720 Old Hammond Hwy. in Baton Rouge.
The Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame was created in 1979 to honor those exceptional competitors, coaches, administrators, and other contributors who have impacted high school sports in our state. Over the years there have been 241 inductees and we are proud to announce a group of coaches and athletes whose combined accomplishments span six decades who will be added to that number this month.
The 2011 induction class is made up of basketball star Alana Beard, multi-sport standout Dan Childress, track and field Olympian Hollis Conway, basketball pioneer Gayle Hatch, multi-sport coach Dahrie Koenig, competitor-coach Frances Lyles and football coach Donnie Perron.
This event is free and open to the public. We encourage individuals who have been inducted into the High School Sports Hall of Fame as well as their friends and family, principals, coaches and athletic directors to attend.
Make plans to attend the open house and see some of the legends that have been produced throughout the last century in Louisiana's high school sports!
