Central Catholic (Toledo) beat
Archbishop Hoban (Akron) 28-21 for the Ohio Division II state title Thursday night but
Lamar Sperling garnered much of the attention with a historic rushing performance for the runner-up.
Hours after earning Mr. Football honors for the state, Sperling ran 40 times for 356 yards and three touchdowns in a losing effort. That brought his season totals to 3,867 yards on the ground and a state record 59 trips to the end zone.
