Oak Forest (Ill.) senior left fielder
Tim Barry has established state baseball records for career home runs and runs batted in.
He hammered his record 50th home run and ran his RBI total to 195 on Friday during an 11-5 victory over Bremen (Midlothian, Ill.). The home run – his second of the game – was a blast to left center field which is believed to have soared more than 450 feet.
The previous state records were 49 homers by Curtis Parrish of Odin and 194 RBI by Stefan Neece of Greenville.
He had tied the career home run record by belting four during a doubleheader two days earlier against Thornton Fractional North (Calumet City, Ill.).
Barry, who was a MaxPreps All-American in 2010, has nine homers and 30 RBI this season despite being walked more than 25 times.
