Tennessee's
Randy Sartin regularly piles up miles traveling around the nation as a freelance photographer covering high school, college and pro sports.
So when MaxPreps needed a photographer to handle two Preseason Top 25 football photo shoots in Mississippi, Sartin was a logical choice since travel was involved.
Sartin's motto is "Have car will travel."
In early May, Sartin drove from his home in Knoxville to Mississippi where he first photographed several top players and the head coach for
Oxford (Miss.) before he handled a second photo shoot the next day with the
South Panola team in Batesville. Oxford and Batesville are only about 30 miles apart along US-278.
The Oxford photo shoot was held at a middle school stadium which the team uses for its home games, while South Panola was staged at its football stadium on campus.
Sartin showcased his creative talent by having players leap through the air while landing on padding that is used for track events. He also took photos laying on the ground while a player held a face mask in front of his camera as he captured images of standouts in motion or down in their stance.
Mississippi-based photographer
Fred Brooks, who is a member of the
MaxPreps Photographers' Network, assisted Sartin on both photo shoots.
