The high school football season in Vermont came to a close over the weekend.
Bellows Falls was among the victors with a 57-35 win over
Mount Anthony (Bennington) in the Division II state championship game. That victory helped propel the Terriers to the No. 1 ranking in the final Vermont MaxPreps Top 25.
Bellows Falls (11-0) was dominant throughout the fall, averaging 44.7 points per game while allowing just 10. In the title game, running backs Jeb Lober and Jeb Monier combined for 268 yards and six touchdowns to lead the way. The Terriers have now captured 12 state championship since 1971, including eight in Division II.
Division III also crowned an unbeaten champion as
Windsor beat
Bellows Free Academy/Lamoille (Fairfax, Vt.) 53-7. The Yellowjackets, who scored 50 points or more five times in 11 outings, check in at No. 6 in the final rankings.
