Baseball Recap: Dunbar Takes a Loss

If Dunbar was feeling good fresh off their 22-9 takedown of Forest Park on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Poets fell just short of Academy for College and Career Exploration by a score of 8-7 on Monday. The Poets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Academy for College and Career Exploration apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Tonyo Johnson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Keneth Ordonez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Dunbar's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Academy for College and Career Exploration, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Looking ahead, Dunbar will face off against Lewis on Wednesday. As for Academy for College and Career Exploration, they will be playing at home against Douglass at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Academy for College and Career Exploration's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ducks have averaged an impressive 11.6 runs per game this season.
