MaxPreps Student SectionBaseball:
Pioneer Varsity Baseball, coached by second-year head coach Craig Marquez and assistants Richard Church and Ryan Juarez, hold an (11-8) overall record and a (6-3) league record in the TCC. The Pats are set to take on the Natomas Nighthawks with the series beginning at home on April 26. The regular season concludes with the highly anticipated three game series against cross-town rival Woodland beginning on May 3 at Woodland High School.
Softball:
Pioneer Varsity Softball, coached by Linda and Bryan Merrida and assistants Tom Roach and Kelly Johnson, currently maintain a 12-0 overall record and 7-0 league record. The Lady Patriots hold 1st place in the TCC and are ranked #3 in the Sacramento Bee's Softball Top 20. The Lady Patriots are #27 in the Nation, #10 in the State and #1 in the Sac-Joaquin Section according to MaxPreps.com.
Girls' Soccer:
Pioneer Varsity Girls' Soccer, coached by first-year head coach Anibal Morales and assistant Neil Dougherty, compiled a (1-6-2) league record and a (4-10-5) overall record. The team has 19 players, 10 of which are seniors.
Boys' Tennis: Pioneer Boys' Tennis, coached by Creed Watts, has earned a share of the Tri-County Conference title as they finished tied for first place with Woodland High School with an 8-2 league record. Joseph Clark, #1 singles player, has qualified for the Sac-Joaquin Section Individual Tennis Tournament by defeating Woodland's Brayden James to become the TCC singles champion.
Boys' Volleyball:
Pioneer Boys' Varsity Volleyball, take a (3-9) overall and (1-2) league record into their final two matches, though some of their scores have been unreported to MaxPreps.com.
Boys' Golf: Pioneer Boys' Golf, coached by Gary Hook, holds a (2-10), (1-9) record.
Swimming: Pioneer Swimming, coached by Mary Park, will be sending Andy Fan, sophomore, to the Sac-Joaquin Section Meet because he qualified with a 1:00:33 time in the 100-meter butterfly.
Track & Field: Pioneer Track & Field, coached by Emily Tombleson and Josh Holloway, has a reason to be proud. Ashton Kershner, sophomore, set a Pioneer girls' high jump record with a five feet, one inch mark at Yuba City High School. Ryan Moore, junior, set a new school record with a time of 4:51 in the 1600 meter.
