Friars scouting report: St. Anthony experienced a Hollywood-like 2010-11 season with Hurley getting his 1,000th career victory, dominating archrival
St. Patrick (Elizabeth) en route to New Jersey's Tournament of Champions title and earning a consensus nod as national champion.

Kyle Anderson will garner plenty of national player of the year consideration if he can lead St. Anthony to another big season.

With one of the nation's most unique and special performers back on the roster, a duplicate effort isn't out of the question. Anderson can play all five positions at the high school level and may eventually develop into a true point guard at nearly 6-8. He outshined current Kentucky frosh phenom Michael Kidd-Gilchrist in his final game at St. Patrick and can score, pass, rebound and lead.
Myles Mack, Anderson's longtime tag-team partner, is now at Rutgers, but Hurley has plenty of other pieces to work with. Frink, Hall and Andrews are experienced veterans. Brown and Cooke both made some noise on the summer circuit.
The schedule is manageable early, but picks up after the New Year with games against
St. Benedict's Prep (Newark),
Miller Grove (Lithonia, Ga.) and
Huntington Prep (Huntington, W.Va.). The Friars also return as defending champ to the SNY Invitational, featuring
Cardozo (Bayside, N.Y.),
Jefferson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and
St. Raymond (Bronx, N.Y.).
