Royals scouting report: With the closure of rival Rice last spring, Christ the King can solidify its standing as the CHSAA's signature program with another championship season. The Royals have won the last two CHSAA Class AA titles and will be favored to three-peat behind Calhoun – the biggest high school hoops star in the Big Apple.

Omar Calhoun is the reigning POY in the Big Apple.

Calhoun averaged 20.1 points per game and topped the 1,000-point career mark as a junior en route to All-City Player of the Year honors. He will be joined by Lewis and Severe in the backcourt to give Arbitello an elite guard trio.
Fuchs and senior Marthely Senat (6-4, 170, Sr.) return in the frontcourt. Sophomores Adonis De La Rosa (6-9, 250) and Thomas Holley (6-5, 230) provide additional size that Christ the King didn't possess in 2011.
Tournament appearances include the Stop DWI Classic in Binghamton and the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions in Springfield, Mo. The Royals also face defending California Division I state champ
Mater Dei (Santa Ana) at the Spalding Hoophall Classic.
