The season is complete but the honors continue. Here's a look at the MaxPreps All-Northern California first and second teams.
Player of the Year: Jake Browning, Senior, FolsomThe Sacramento Bee Player of the Year for the third consecutive season, Browning became the first prep quarterback in history to produce three successive 5,000-yard passing seasons, including 5,790 this season and a national-record tying 91 touchdown passes in leading a 16-0 team.
Offensive Player of the Year: Miles Harrison, Senior, Clayton Valley Charter (Concord)The East Bay Offensive Player of the Year by the Bay Area Newspaper Group, Harrison rushed for 2,704 yards and 34 touchdowns in 12 games, averaging 11 yards a carry, as his team set a NorCal single-season rushing record.
Defensive Player of the Year: Ben Burr-Kirven, Senior, Sacred Heart Prep (Atherton)The San Jose Mercury News repeat Player of the Year, Burr-Kirven not only led his Gators to a 13-0 season and a Central Coast Section Open Division championship, he also led them in tackles with 116 and led the way on offense, too, despite myriad injuries.
Coaches of the Year
Open Division: Justin Alumbaugh, De La Salle (Concord)Alumbaugh steered a 14-0 Spartans team to another state championship, the program's sixth, and another
MaxPreps national No. 1 finish, despite a rash of injuries and the transfer loss of All-American lineman Khalil McKenzie.
Division I: Kris Richardson/Troy Taylor, FolsomWith Richardson working with the offensive line and Taylor mentoring the skill players, including record-setting passer Browning, the Bulldogs were prepared, in shape and flawless in execution in going 16-0 with a 68-7 CIF Division I title romp over 14-0 Oceanside, as the second-most prolific team in national history, and tops for any school on the West Coast.
Division II: Tim Murphy, Clayton Valley CharterThe Ugly Eagles went 15-1 and won the program's first NorCal championship before losing a heartbreaker in the CIF Division II championship.
Division III: Kevin Macy, Campolindo (Moraga)The Cougars graduated a ton of talent off last season's 11-1 team, yet replenished, reloaded and took off, going 16-0, capped by a 35-28 victory over El Capitan (Lakeside) in the CIF State Division III title game after trailing 28-7 at the half.
Division IV: Roger Canepa, Central Catholic (Modesto)A three-time Coach of the Year winner, Canepa is also the primary reason for the program's three-peat as CIF State Division IV champions, mixing in charm with old-school toughness to mold teams.
Small Schools: Phil Grams, Capital Christian (Sacramento) and Daniel Ward, WintersGrams guided Capital Christian to the finest season in school history, a 13-1 showing that ended with a NorCal Division IV loss to eventual three-time CIF State champion Central Catholic. Ward, a former quarterback star for the Yolo County program, led the Warriors to a 12-1 season and a repeat showing as Northern Section champions.

First Team OffenseQB - Jack Stephens, Senior, Campolindo (Moraga)Stephens passed for 3,564 yards and 37 touchdowns, rallying his team from deficits along the way, including from 28-7 down at the half of the CIF State Division III championship game before sparking a 35-28 victory to cap a 16-0 season.
RB - Trey Nahhas, Senior, Monterey Trail (Elk Grove)The Sacramento Bee Offensive Player of the Year rushed for a Sac-Joaquin Section leading 2,599 yards and 34 touchdowns out of the run-heavy veer offense.
RB - Antoine Custer, Junior, De La Salle (Concord)Antoine Custer, De La Salle

The East Bay Player of the Year by the Bay Area Newspaper Group, Custer rushed for 1,942 yards and 26 touchdowns while also blocking, catching passes and leading, in helping the Spartans go 14-0 as CIF State Open Division champions.
All-Purpose - Josiah Deguara, Senior, FolsomDeguara led Northern California with 114 receptions, and had 1,671 yards and 24 touchdowns while also proving to be a punishing inside blocker. He was a named first team All-Metro by The Sacramento Bee.
WR - Cole Thompson, Senior, FolsomIn catching 79 passes for 1,705 yards, Thompson broke the California single-season touchdown mark with 34. He was a named first team All-Metro by The Sacramento Bee.
WR - Jordan Genato, Senior, Terra Nova (Pacifica)Genato led NorCal with 2,000 yards receiving on 104 catches for 22 touchdowns. He was named first-team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle.
TE - Tyler Petite, Senior, Campolindo (Moraga)Headed to USC, Petite made big plays down the stretch for the 16-0 CIF State Division III champions. He was named first team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle.
OL - Cody Creason, Senior, FolsomHeaded to Arizona, Creason was the Sierra Foothill League Lineman of the Year and a first team All-Metro pick by The Sacramento Bee after leading a 16-0 team.
OL - Tevita Musika, Senior, MilpitasHis league's Lineman of the Year, Musika powered a run game that led the way to a 13-1 season. He was named first team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle.
OL - Darrin Paulo, Senior, Grant (Sacramento)With scholarship offers from every Pacific-12 Conference program and others across the land, Paulo was named first team All-Metro by The Sacramento Bee after competing for a 14-1 team.
OL - Drew Sullivan, Senior, De La Salle (Concord)Sullivan was the top offensive lineman for the 14-0 CIF State Open Division champions that finished No. 1 in the country in the MaxPreps Computer Rankings. He was named first team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle.
OL - Jonah Williams, Junior, FolsomAlready considered the top offensive lineman prospect on the West Coast for returning players, Williams was a first-team All-Metro pick by The Sacramento Bee after starring for a 16-0 team.
ATH - Devin Asiasi, Junior, De La Salle (Concord)A five-star recruit, Asiasi excelled at tight end, defensive line and quarterback for the 14-0 CIF State Open Division champions. He was first team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle.
ATH - Anthony Gordon, Senior, Terra Nova (Pacifica)The San Jose Mercury News Offensive Player of the Year passed for 4,899 yards and 49 touchdowns in leading his club to the Central Coast Section Division IV championship. He was named first team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle.
ATH - Isaiah Langley, Senior, Foothill (Pleasanton)The USC-bound star made plays as a receiver, a defensive back and on special teams in earning San Francisco Chronicle first team All-Metro honors.
ATH - Jacob Murrieta, Senior, Kennedy (Fremont)Murrieta had 25 sacks as a defensive end and caught eight touchdowns as a tight end. He was named first team All Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle.
ATH - Justice Shelton-Mosley, Senior, Capital Christian (Sacramento)Shelton-Mosley powered the Cougars to their best season in school history, including a school-record 13-0 start. Headed to Harvard, he had more than 1,900 all-purpose yards, six interceptions and 29 total touchdowns. He was named first team All-Metro by The Sacramento Bee.
K - Andrew Ferrero, Senior, St. Ignatius (San Francisco)With a long of 49 yards, Ferrero led the Central Coast Section with nine made field goals, and he averaged 40 yards a punt, with 19 lading inside the 20.
P - Ryan Robards, Junior, Elk GroveA first-team All-Metro pick by The Sacramento Bee, Robards fits here because he also caught passes and played defense in addition to kicking.
First Team DefenseDL - Steven Dinneen, Senior, Saint Francis (Mountain View)A first team All-Metro pick by the San Jose Mercury News, Dinneen was the West Catholic Athletic League Defensive Lineman of the Year, recording 14 sacks and 99 tackles for the Central Coast Section Division II champions.
DL - Jason Scrempos, Senior, MilpitasHeaded to Washington, Scrempos was a difficult handle in keying a 12-1 team, earning first-team All-Metro honors by the San Francisco Chronicle.
DL - Sai Ta'amu, Senior, Elk GroveTa'amu was hard to block as the nose guard clogged the running lanes and pursued ball carriers. He was a named first team All-Metro by The Sacramento Bee.
DL - Boss Tagaloa, Junior, De La Salle (Concord)A five-start recruit and first team All-Metro pick by the San Francisco Chronicle, Tagaloa had three sacks in the CIF State Open Division title win over Centennial (Corona).
DL - Sam Whitney, Senior, FolsomThe Sacramento Bee Defensive Player of the Year headed the Sac-Joaquin Section's most dominant defense, one that blasted past 14-0 Grant (Sacramento) in the NorCal Division I title game 56-21 (after it was 56-7) and 14-0 Oceanside in the CIF State Division I title game.
LB - Curt Calomeni, Senior, Bellarmine College Prep (San Jose)Curt Calomeni, Bellarmine

The West Catholic Athletic League Linebacker of the Year keyed a playoff upset of unbeaten Milpitas and also caught the winning touchdown. He was named first team All-Metro by the San Jose Mercury News.
LB - Khalil Hodge, Senior, St. Mary's (Stockton)Hodge shattered school records for tackles, leading the state with a remarkable 262 stops for a Rams team that won a league title and two playoff games.
LB - Bailey Laolagi, Senior, FolsomLaolagi overcame a serious knee injury at the end of his junior season to finish strong. He was a first team All-Metro pick by The Sacramento Bee.
LB - Cameron Smith, Senior, Granite BayAn early enrollee at USC, Smith had 148 tackles in setting career Granite Bay totals. He was a named first team All-Metro by The Sacramento Bee.
DB - Je'Vari Anderson, Senior, De La Salle (Concord)The team's top cover corner also made plays as a runner and on special teams for a 14-0 CIF State Championship team. He was first team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle.
DB - John Horn, Senior, Yuba CitySecond in the section and third in the state, Horn had 11 interceptions. He was named first team All-Metro by The Sacramento Bee.
DB - Jakob Magana, Senior, Downey (Modesto)Since MaxPreps started keeping stats in 2004, no other Sac-Joaquin player has had more than 12 interceptions. This season, Magana had 14, which was first in the state and second overall in the nation.
DB - Mitchell Martella, Senior, Sacred Heart Prep (Atherton)In leading the Gators with six interceptions, Martella turned the game with a pick-six against Los Gatos in a Central Coast Section Open Division semifinal.
DB - James Outman, Senior, Serra (San Mateo)The West Catholic Athletic League Co-Player of the Year led his team's defensive charge, including 14 tackles in an opening loss to De La Salle.
Second Team OffenseQB - Mitch Daniels, Senior, ConcordIn powering his team to a 12-2 record, Daniels passed for 3,928 yards and 55 touchdowns. He was a first team All-Metro pick by the San Francisco Chronicle.
RB - Lavance Warren, Senior, McClymonds (Oakland)In rushing for 2,316 yards and 30 touchdowns, Warren keyed a 12-0 team before four forfeits denied MACK a NorCal playoff berth.
RB - Isaiah Matthews, Senior, Enterprise (Redding)Matthews rushed for 1,406 yards and 22 touchdowns for an 11-1 team a year after earning similar honors for a CIF State Bowl team.
All-Purpose - Jared Rice, Senior, Central Catholic (Modesto)In powering the Raiders to a three-peat as CIF Division IV State champions, Rice could do it all, including blocking and catching. He had two touchdowns in the state title game.
WR - Mason Knight, Senior, ConcordKnight had 89 receptions for 1,370 yards and 23 touchdowns for a 12-2 team.
WR - Travis Nickols, Senior, McKinleyvilleNickols caught 74 passes for 1,385 yards and 16 touchdowns in almost single-handedly keeping his team in games.
TE - Will Stabbert, Senior, Granite BayWill Stabbert, Granite Bay

Stabbert caught 12 touchdowns yet another Grizzlies playoff team and was named first team All-Metro by The Sacramento Bee.
OL - Brady Aiello, Senior, Acalanes (Lafayette)Headed to Oregon, Aiello looks the part of Pac-12 recruit at 6-foot-7 and 265 pounds. He was a first team All-Metro pick by the San Francisco Chronicle.
OL - Johnny Capra, Senior, Placer (Auburn)Headed to Cal, Capra led the offensive line surge for a Hillmen team that averaged 44 points and rushed for 3,045 yards. He was a first team All-Metro pick by The Sacramento Bee.
OL - Jack Dreyer, Senior, Serra (San Mateo)Massive at 6-foot-8 and 290 pounds, Dreyer is headed to Stanford on scholarship.
OL - Tyler Whisenhunt, Senior, California (San Ramon)A third-year starter, Whisenhunt dominated the trenches. He was named first team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle.
OL - Soape Tupou, Junior, Grant (Sacramento)Named first team All-Metro by The Sacramento Bee, Tupou is a national recruit who leads the line surge next season after going 14-1 this fall.
ATH - Zack Fulks, Senior, Las Lomas (Walnut Creek)Fulks rushed for 25 touchdowns and had eight interceptions on defense. He was named first team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle.
ATH - Larry Hardy, Senior, Inderkum (Sacramento)A playmaker as a runner, a receiver and a defensive back, Hardy powered the Tigers to a 12-2 record. He was a first team All-Metro pick by The Sacramento Bee.
ATH - Ja'Narrick James, Senior, Analy (Sebastopol)The North Bay Player of the Year was everywhere, scoring 33 total touchdowns. He was named first team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle.
ATH - Lonny Powell, Senior, SacramentoThe Sac-Joaquin Section leader with 22 sacks, Powell is headed to Cal. He was also a punishing runner and blocker for the Dragons.
Second Team DefenseDL - Nu'umotu Falo, Senior, Inderkum (Sacramento)The heart and soul of the defense, much like his older brother before him, Falo powered the Tigers to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III finals in earning first-team All-Metro honors by The Sacramento Bee.
DL - Gabe McCoy, Senior, PittsburgA first-team All-Metro pick by the San Francisco Chronicle, McCoy had 17.5 sacks and 25 tackles for loss.
DL - Lukas Hendricks, Senior, FolsomHendricks capped a 16-0 state-championship season in style, recording five sacks in the CIF Division I state title game against Oceanside. He was a first-team All-Metro pick by The Sacramento Bee.

A defensive stalwart for another playoff team, McDermott recorded 15.5 sacks.
DL - Nick Tomasin, Senior, Enterprise (Redding)At linebacker or a rush end, Tomasin was the top defensive player in the Northern Section, recording 154 tackles and 10 sacks.
LB - Chris Atteberry, Senior, Grant (Sacramento)Deemed the heart and soul of the Pacers defense, Atteberry was the Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the Delta League. He was named first team All-Metro by The Sacramento Bee.
LB - Jacob Moen, Senior, Christopher (Gilroy)The Monterey Bay Pacific Division Player of the Year and a San Jose Mercury News All Metro pick, Moen had 154 tackles, including 111 solo.
LB - Solomon Foketi, Senior, MilpitasThe De Anza Division Defensive Player of the Year helped power Milpitas to a 13-1 season in earning first team All-Metro honors by the San Jose Mercury News.
LB - Sam Whittingham, Senior, FolsomAnother stalwart on the Sac-Joaquin Section's top defense, Whittingham was second on the team in tackles. He was named first team All-Metro by The Sacramento Bee.
DB - J.R. Hardy, Senior, Sacred Heart Prep (Atherton)Superb down the stretch of the season, Hardy was paramount for a 13-0 team.
DB - Jordan Parker, Junior, PittsburgThe highly recruited Parker had 10 pass deflections and five interceptions and was named first team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle.
DB - Tre McCloud, Senior, Valley Christian (San Jose)The Co-Player of the Year in the West Catholic Athletic League, McCloud led the Warriors to a share of the league title while rushing for 967 yards and seven touchdowns and playing strong defense.
DB - Jabar Byrd, Senior, MercedThe Merced Sun Star Player of the Year, Byrd was a load as a running back and defensive back.
DB - Jacob Alvarado, Senior, TracyIn recording nine interceptions and accumulating 711 all-purpose yards, Alvarado was a key reason the Bulldogs reached the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I title game for the first time since 1987.
K - Alejandro Godinez, Senior, Natomas (Sacramento)Godinez boomed a Sac-Joaquin Section record-tying 58-yard field and was a first team pick for The Sacramento Bee All-Metro team.
