3A District 1 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Pensacola Catholic moved up to 31 from 92 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A District 1. The Crusaders were able to make the jump by beating Crestview 28-7.
Pensacola Catholic extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Bulldogs, 28-7. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
The Crusaders' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cody Henry threw for 161 and two touchdowns and Ja'paul Sinkfield had 54 yards receiving. On the ground Simon Smiley chipped in 70 yards. Zack Allen helped Pensacola Catholic's passing attack out by catching five balls for 52 yards.
On the ground, Florida State University's Khari Lewis has rushed for 440 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Matt Donaldson. The Florida State University star has 11 catches for 133 yards.
Madison County took down Taylor County 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
