There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Part of the action? A towering 108-point combined score for Vianney and St. Mary's.
Can't Touch This
Kearney's 35 - 0 win over Raytown South last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Patrick Connery. Connery ran for 221 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. That performance landed Connery among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Christian Brothers and Rockhurst, 1st and 3rd in the power rankings, respectively. Everything went Christian Brothers's way against Rockhurst as it secured a 45 - 7 win. The MaxPreps rankings were spot on as they projected Christian Brothers as the clear winner.
No Stoppin 'Em
The match between St. Mary's and Vianney last week put some strain on the scoreboard; in fact, with a total of 108 final points, it was the highest scoring contest in the power rankings for the week. Vianney picked up a decisive 'W' against St. Mary's, finishing up at 77 - 31. At 46 points, that marked Vianney's largest margin of victory so far this year.
Game of Inches
The title of the most exciting match of the week goes to the clash between Lee's Summit West and Blue Springs. Lee's Summit West won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Blue Springs 7 - 6. The win raised Lee's Summit West up one spot in the power rankings.
