The Birdville Hawks managed to keep up with the Braswell Bengals until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Birdville had to suffer through a rough 61-31 loss at the hands of Braswell. While losing is never fun, Birdville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 665th, while Braswell is ranked 18th).
Despite the loss, Birdville saw an underclassman step up: Azzareya Pina-warren scored 12 points.
Birdville now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Braswell, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Birdville will square off against Haltom at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Haltom is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Braswell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Timber Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Timber Creek is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
