That is exactly how long it has taken me to write this journal, but I wanted to make a direct connection with the length of time since the last state championships of high school football in the state that is said to be golden. All this wait, and in just a little over a week six teams will make the journey to the Home Depot Center in Carson, Ca. to play in an event that will leave a lasting impact on not only the players, but the programs that do get to take part in this history making event.
Besides the football on the 16th of December, there will be a plethora of action occurring all around the venue. My favorite might be the state cheerleading competition in which, as of right now, 750 cheerleaders have already signed up. If you are not interested in that then I would recommend you try to take part in the coaches' clinic, and maybe try to get some advice from either Tyrone Willingham (University of Washington) or Dan Hawkins (University of Colorado). This combine will time you in the 40 yard dash, measure your vertical, and see just much you can bench while giving you the platform to show yourself off to those that matter.
The thing that maters most about this event is that it will give the CIF the avenue to share their message of sportsmanship, steroid issues and parents being good characters to the masses.
