You vote, you decide. MaxPreps is proud to sponsor the Indiana Athlete of the Week awards during the 2021-22 school year.
Each week during the season (regular and post), there will be a fan-generated contest to tab weekly winners. Each winner receives a letter and award patch for their varsity jacket.
How does it work? Nominees are selected from statistics submitted on MaxPreps. Coaches who do not have current access may request their free account here. Weekly finalists are released on MaxPreps every Tuesday and voting is conducted in a special poll. Voting ceases at noon on Mondays. The winners are announced the next day along with the next week's nominees.
Participants may vote as many times as they want. It's a competition.

Week 1 Indiana High School Athlete of the Week Nominees
* Alan Karrfalt, Covington Football Senior quarterback compelted 44-of-62 passes for 544 yards and eight touchdowns and ran for 25 yards and a touchdown in a 62-56 win over South Vermillion.
* Logan Shoffner, Noblesville FootballSophomore running back set the school’s single-game rushing record (previously set in 1990 by Corey Louks) with 354 yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries in a 57-36 win over Mt. Vernon.
* Christian Gallo, Lafayette Central Catholic Boys SoccerSenior forward scored 11 goals, including six ion one game, and had an assist as the Knights opened the season 3-0 with wins over Southmont, North Montgomery and Benton Central.
* Rory Heltsley, Gibson Southern (Fort Branch) FootballSenior receiver caught 11 passes for 219 yards and four touchdowns in a 43-20 win over Columbus North.
* Rylee Ugen, Mt. Vernon (Fortville) VolleyballSenior setter had 53 assists in a 3-2 win over Cathedral. Has 196 assists total for the undefeated (6-0) Marauders.
* Alison Smith, South Adams (Berne) Girls SoccerSenior forward had seven goals and two assists in a 9-0 win over Marion and five goals in a 6-0 win over Blackford.
* Ashton Elpers, North Posey (Poseyville) VolleyballSophomore has 139 digs – including 43 against Evansville Mater Dei and 42 against Gibson Southern – through four games for the undefeated Vikings.
* Addie Chester, Delta (Muncie) Girls SoccerSenior forward had five goals and an assist in a 6-1 win over Eastbrook and five goals in a 6-2 win over Mississinewa. ac
