Celebrating the 10th Annual MaxPreps Football Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard,
Bishop Gorman High School was honored in a ceremony on February 18th. The Gaels completed their 6th consecutive Nevada State Championship after going 15-0 and finished the season highly ranked in every national poll including the MaxPreps Computer Rankings.
In a private ceremony with the team, coaches and administration, Staff Sergeant Greg Krizmanich of the Nevada Army National Guard presented the Army National Guard national ranking trophy to incoming Head Coach Kenny Sanchez. The Gaels were led for the past six seasons by Sanchez's brother Tony, who is now the new head football coach at UNLV. Rick Strasser, representing MaxPreps, introduced the ceremony and explained the Tour of Champions as well as the MaxPreps Computer Rankings. SSG Krizmanich then explained the similarities between the dedication, teamwork and sacrifice necessary for an Army National Guardsman and a member of such a successful football program.
After the ceremony, Coach Sanchez posed for pictures with the Army National Guard representatives, his team captains and the Army National Guard national ranking trophy, as well as with the MaxPreps TOC National Ranking Banner. Bishop Gorman was also honored by MaxPreps and the Army National Guard following the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
Congratulations to the Bishop Gorman Gaels and Coach Sanchez for another Nevada State Championship and their national ranking!
