Etowah (Woodstock, Ga.) junior
Brandon Rechsteiner might have the most unique athletic lineage of any high school athlete in the country. His father is former professional wrestling star "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner, his uncle – the "Dog Faced Gremlin" Rick Steiner – also starred in the squared circle and cousin Bron Breakker is a former college football player and current WWE NXT champion.
So it's only natural that Rechsteiner would pursue ... basketball?
Rechsteiner's work on the hardwood is paying off, as evidenced by recent scholarship offers from Rice, Seattle, Tulane, Wofford and Xavier.
Rechsteiner led Etowah to a 16-11 record during the 2021-22 season and earned Class AAAAAAA All-State honorable mention honors. He's validated the hype on the club circuit this spring with the Atlanta All-Stars.

Anybody who watched Rechsteiner's dad Scott and uncle Rick dominate tag team wrestling in the 1990s can testify to the athleticism that runs in the family. The Steiner Brothers captured tag team gold in the WCW seven times and twice more in the WWE. They were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame earlier this year and are widely regarded as one of the greatest tag duos in history.
Later emerging as Big Poppa Pump, Scott went on to solo success with a run as the WCW world champion and has stepped inside the ropes as recently as 2019.
Another Etowah High School product and former Kennesaw State football player, Breakker is continuing the family legacy after debuting in WWE's developmental brand NXT in 2021. He became the champion less than six months later and is pegged as a future star in Vince McMahon's organization. See his highlights below
