La Porte (Texas) received a huge boost from its defense against
Deer Park (Texas), as the unit scored six in defeating
Deer Park (Texas), 20-16.
The score was knotted at 13 heading into the half. The Bulldogs took the lead for good on a defensive touchdown with 5:00 left in the fourth quarter.
La Porte didn't take the lead for good until the the fourth quarter when it scored a defensive touchdown.
Scott played well for LP in the victory. The junior caught one touchdown.
Led by Scott, the Bulldogs went into the matchup giving up only 13.5 points per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, La Porte came away with a 34-31 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Deer Park, which notched a 58-28 victory over West Brook in its previous outing. With the win LP extended its winning streak to four games. The loss snapped the Deer's 2-game winning streak.
La Porte (6-1) will play a 5A Region III District 21 game against Channelview next week, while Deer Park (4-4) will take on Channelview also in a 5A Region III District 21 game.
