Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2024 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Dezmen Roebuck of
Marana (Tucson) is the 2024 MaxPreps Arizona High School Football Player of the Year. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound senior wide receiver helped the Tigers to a 10-1 record and a spot in the Open Division playoffs.
Roebuck finished the season with 95 receptions for 1,131 yards and 14 touchdowns. He added 51 tackles and four interceptions on defense.

In a 31-22 loss to Hamilton (Chandler) in the playoffs, Roebuck hauled in 16 passes for 129 yards and a score. The Tigers had their best season since 2017, earning the No. 1 seed in their first Open Division appearance.
Roebuck led Marana to a season-opening 27-24 win over Salpointe Catholic (Tucson) with 15 receptions for 120 yards, one of eight 100-yard receiving games this fall. He also had five tackles, one interception and forced a fumble. His season-high came in a 36-28 win over Higley (Gilbert) when he posted 10 catches for 131 yards and two touchdowns.
According to
247Sports, Roebuck is the No. 6 senior prospect in the state of Arizona. He signed with Washington last week.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
