The WIN City is Chicago's new nickname in the world of high school basketball after the latest success of the city's teams and athletes such as Whitney Young (Chicago) and 6-foot-11, 270-pound senior center Jahlil Okafor.

The one title that has eluded Whitney Young during the Jahlil Okafor era has been the state championship. With former Simeon standout Jabari Parker now with Duke, and Curie (Chicago) losing to DuSable (Chicago) in the first round of the state tournament, chances are the Dolphins could be bringing home a third 4A ISHA State Championship to the Chicago magnet school's trophy case.

If this does happen, it will be the icing on the cake to one of the most successful careers in high school history. Here is a list of some of Okafor's accomplishments these past four years:

- 2013 FIBA World U19 First Team All-Tournament (Arizona freshman Aaron Gordon was MVP)

- 2013 Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year (Averaged 20.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game)
- 2013 Chicago Public League City Champion

- 2014 Nike Hoop Summit Selection

In November, Okafor and Apple Valley (Minn.) five-star point guard and 247sports No. 6 overall recruit, Tyus Jones, announced simultaneously from about 400 miles apart that Duke won the recruiting war for high school basketball's best package deal. 

Despite having a ticket to one of the best college basketball programs in the country, Okafor has continued to stay motivated. The No.1 overall recruit according to 247sports has averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds per game this season, again being named Sun-Times Player of the Year — the first of many accolades he will surely get this year.

Okafor draws inspiration and motivation from his mom's passing. Dacresha Lanett Benton passed away from bronchitis complications when Jahlil was only 9 years old.

Last night the Dolphins, now 25-5 overall and ranked No. 12 in the Xcellent 25 National Rankings, defeated four-time defending state champion Simeon (Chicago), 72-64, in the sectional semifinals. The Wolverines had not lost a playoff game since March 2009.

Whitney Young will play St. Rita (Chicago) for the sectional championship on Friday at Marist.
