The 2025 high school football season featured the record-breaking performances of
Myles McLaughlin of
Knox (Ind.) and
Kaegan Ash of
Mt. Enterprise (Texas), who combined for 13 entries on our list of the top single-game performances this year.
McLaughlin, who broke the national record for rushing yardage in a single season with 4,846 yards, had the nation's top single-game marks for rushing attempts, rushing touchdowns and points scored. The Knox quarterback actually had the top two marks for rushing attempts as he had 54 in one game and 53 in another. He also added a 51-carry effort to give him three of the top five marks.
The Indiana standout also had nine rushing touchdowns, one of two players to accomplish that feat. His 62 points scored in one was also the best in the nation this year.

In a 70-55 win over Baldwin in October, Ty Cummings of West Laurens in Georgia ran for 615 yards and eight touchdowns on just 19 carries. Cummings finished the season with over 2,600 rushing yards and 31 TDs. (PHOTO: LeRoy Mundy)
Ash, meanwhile, had the No. 2 single-game rushing performance with a Texas state record 599 yards. However, it was in single-game scoring where Ash made his mark. Of the nine games where a player scored 52 or more points, Ash had five of them, including three games with 56 points and two games with 52 en route to a single-season national record of 528 points.
Following is a look at some of the other impressive efforts this year:
*
Kellen Bowman of
South Salem (Salem, Ore.) broke an Oregon record with 692 yards passing. He also broke state records with 48 completions and 68 attempts. His receiver
Ben Greer broke the state record for receptions with 24.
*
D'Shaun Ware of
Union City (Ind.) scored 10 touchdowns in a 92-6 win over Cambridge City Lincoln (Ind.). That was just under one-third of all the touchdowns Union City scored during its 2-8 season. Ware scored four rushing touchdowns, three receiving and three on punt returns in the win.
*
Da'Rontae Barnes of
Encina (Sacramento, Calif.) had one of the most diverse scoring performances of the season. In a 68-6 win over West Campus (Sacramento, Calif.), Barnes scored four rushing touchdowns along with a receiving touchdown, an interception return for a touchdown, a fumble return for a touchdown and two kickoff returns for scores.
The performances listed only include those reported to MaxPreps by coaches.
