Video: Top 25 national baseball rankings Texas takes the lead in the rankings as Argyle puts on impressive playoff run.
Now that the Nebraska prep baseball season has concluded, we've combed through our baseball statistics database and display what we believe to be the Top 10 single-game offensive performances in the Cornhusker State this spring.
And, once again, we were not disappointed.
Lincoln North Star's Aiden Bishop and Joe Osborn of Norris put together enough remarkable performances to fill out nearly half of this week's Top 10, with both of them claiming two spots. Osborn's third-best effort on the diamond would have finished in our Top 12.
Bishop leads off this week's Top 10 with what we believe to be the top performance of 2019 after he went 4-for-5 from the plate, scored five times and knocked in five runs in a 17-7 triumph over Lincoln Southeast April 12. The senior also landed in the No. 6 spot following a seven extra base hit outing that allowed six runs to cross the plate in an 18-1 win over Lincoln High April 20.
Platte Valley's Grant Anderson took runner-up honors after going 3-for-5 from the plate, scoring a pair of runs and knocking in six runs as Platte Valley edged Arlington 15-11 on April 23. The junior belted a double and two home runs in the outing.
Osborn claimed the Nos. 3 and 5 spots, while Elkhorn South's Jake Gish laid claim to the No. 4 rung. In his three Top 12 performances, Osborn was 11-for-12 from the plate, scored eight times and knocked in 14 runs while belting seven doubles and a pair of home runs. Gish went 2-for-3 in an 11-3 win over Bellevue West April 5. The senior scored twice and knocked in five runs after belting a couple of round trippers.
Had we gone the route of allowing just one Top 10 performance per athlete, Millard North's Ryan Mendez and Colin Quick of Blair would have made the Top 10 cut as well. Seven of Nebraska's top baseball programs placed at least one player in this week's Top 10, with Norris leading the way by securing three spots collectively for Osborn and Joel Benes and Lincoln North Star claiming Bishop's two places.
