DeSoto added more validity to its top ranking in the MaxPreps Texas Top 25 by wearing down previously-unbeaten Mansfield Timberview (Arlington), 55-20.
A talented Timberview defense slowed DeSoto for three quarters, but the Eagles put the game away with a 27-point fourth quarter, securing their 16th straight regular-season victory.
No. 2 Allen began District 10-5A play in emphatic fashion, derailing 4-2 Plano East, 42-17.
Katy and Pearland, the No. 3 and 4 teams in the Top 25, scored shutout wins.
Joining the Top 25 this week are a pair of 6-0 teams, Reagan (San Antonio) and Seven Lakes (Katy). Reagan knocked off Madison (San Antonio) last week.
Seven Lakes faces Katy for the District 19-5A lead on Friday. The task for the Spartans is daunting. Katy has lost one district game in the nine seasons, that coming in 2008.
