St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) star Najee Glass became the latest New Jersey track athlete to make noise beyond state boundaries, eclipsing the 500-meter-dash national record with a clocking of 1 minute, 2.22 seconds last Friday at the New Balance Games at the New Balance Track and Field Center in New York. The senior's time surpassed the previous mark of 1:02.44 set by Mike Green of Boston in 1984.
Also at the New Balance Games, the
Neptune (N.J.) girls sprint relay set a state record and recorded the country's swiftest time this season as its posting of 4:00.33 edged Willingboro's previous mark of 4:01.41 set in 2003.
Finally,
Livingston's Jeramy Elkaim qualified for this Friday's Millrose Games with the nation's third fastest time in the mile, touching the tape in 4:15.05.
