Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (59), Indianapolis Washington still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Indianapolis Washington still got an impressive performance from Dave Leye, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Leye's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cameron Brewer, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Indianapolis Washington were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Phalen Leadership Academy only racked up eight assists.
Phalen Leadership Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Demarcus Suggs out in front who scored 32 points along with three steals. The game was Suggs' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Derek Callahan was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks.
Indianapolis Washington has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Phalen Leadership Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indianapolis Washington will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Eminence at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th. Eminence is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. Phalen Leadership Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Liberty Christian at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Hopefully Liberty Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Saturday.
