Morse is 1-7 against Freeport since June of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Shipbuilders will host the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. Morse will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Morse was able to grind out a solid victory over Belfast, taking the game 4-1.
Max Couture was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Hinton, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Morse was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Belfast only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, Freeport came up short against Brunswick on Saturday and fell 8-3.
Jacob Cass put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Freeport is 2-1 when Cass allows one or fewer hits, but 5-10-1 otherwise. Cass was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Bryson Jack was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Morse's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Freeport, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11-1.
Freeport's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Morse has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. It's a different story for Freeport, though, as they've only averaged .361. Will they be able to contain Morse's hitters?
Morse skirted past Freeport 4-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Do the Shipbuilders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
