The high school basketball continues this weekend as a top 10 showdown in Texas headles a loaded three-day stretch. Reigning Class 6A state champion No. 9 Duncanville avenged its only loss of the season, defeating No. 8 Waxahachie 70-65 Friday night to capture their third consecutive region title.
The Panthers advance to the UIL Class 6A Final Four where they will face No. 17 Richardson who routed Dallas Jesuit (Dallas) 66-43.
In a major upset, Brentwood Academy (Brentwood, Tenn.) defeated previously unbeaten No. 16 Christian Brothers (Memphis) 69-61 Friday night in the Division II Class AA state semifinals.
The Peach State headlined action Saturday as the final four features a pair of ranked teams with No. 10 Milton defeating Pebblebrook (Mableton) 74-67 in Class AAAAAAA and No. 19 Pace Academy (Atlanta) knocking off Thomasville 56-54 in Class AA.
No. 22 Orlando Christian Prep (Orlando, Fla.)
extended its win streak to 48 games with an impressive 51-32 victory
over Impact Christian Academy (Jacksonville, Fla.) in the Class AA state
title game.
