The Vancleave Bulldogs will challenge the North Pike Jaguars on Friday. Vancleave's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so North Pike's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Vancleave saw some tournament action last Saturday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Neshoba Central. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Vancleave saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Hammonds, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Jayda Ferrell was another, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, North Pike hadn't done well against Germantown recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Jaguars came out on top against the Mavericks by a score of 7-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Savanna Hanks made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrianna Cooper, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
North Pike's win bumped their record up to 12-16. As for Vancleave, their loss dropped their record down to 14-14.
Vancleave skirted past North Pike 6-5 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
