Corona del Mar (Newport Beach, Calif.) snapped the seven-game winning streak of
Nordhoff (Ojai, Calif.), with a 24-8 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a field goal in the first quarter, the Sea Kings led 10-0 at the half.
Corona del Mar expanded its lead to 17 points entering the fourth quarter. CM's lone score in the quarter came on a
Luke Napolitano touchdown pass to
Bo St. Geme.
With the win the Newport Beach school extended its winning streak to 15 games. Corona del Mar defeated Garden Grove 42-21 last week.
Nordhoff's lone touchdown came on a 4-yard pass from
Tanner Workman to
Austin Wolcott in the fourth quarter.
The Sea Kings went into the matchup giving up only 9.4 points per game. The eight points that the Rangers ended with were well below their average of 35.1 coming into the game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Nordhoff, which notched a 49-21 victory over El Segundo in its previous outing.
