On Tuesday evening, January 23rd the Wilson Area Warriors football team was honored by the MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard.
The event took place at a special ceremony and autograph signing in the Southlake Carroll cafeteria. Kicking off the ceremony was MaxPreps representative Chris Stonebreaker, who is also involved with the Max Preps High School Road Tour. In front of the players, coaches, and lifelong fan base it was announced that Southlake Carroll was the top ranked team in the nation for the second consecutive year, placing number 1 in America. Major Calvin Jenkins of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard addressed the crowd and took the honors in presenting Head Coach Todd Dodge with the MaxPreps Tour of Champions National Rankings Trophy.
The Southlake Carroll Dragons vaunted one of the highest scoring offenses in the nation by scoring over 700 points on the season. Southlake Carroll showed they were an absolute powerhouse by defeating their opponent by an average of 33 points a game. The Dragons, however, showed they could win the close games as well when they came back in the fourth quarter against Trinity High School to win by just one point in a playoff game at Texas Stadium. When honoring schools such as Southlake Carroll, it truly makes for a special experience. We look forward to the possibility of honoring the team again in '08. Best of luck to the Dragons this fall!
