Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Imari Berry of
Clarksville is the 2023-24 Tennessee MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 5-foot-10 senior guard led the Wildcats to a 31-1 record and Division I Class 4A state quarterfinal appearance.
For the season, Berry averaged 24 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists per game. With 25 points in a win over Rossview (Clarksville) in late February, she broke Clarksville's career scoring mark held by WNBA veteran Bashaara Graves with 2,510 points.

Berry has led Clarksville to a 78-12 record over the past three seasons with one state championship appearance.
Regarded as a top 10 prospect in the Class of 2024, Berry signed with Clemson in November after committing to the program over the summer.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 11. Past selections include 2023 WNBA Most Valuable Player Breanna Stewart (2012) as well as 2023 All-WNBA first team picks Napheesa Collier (2015), Alyssa Thomas (2010) and A'ja Wilson (2014).
