IMG Academy tops initial MaxPreps Freeman Rankings

Highlights from Alabama, Hawaii and Virginia make the cut.

Like a love relationship, this one started brimming with promise, harmony and commonality.

But it didn't take long for the computer-generated MaxPreps Freeman Rankings to conflict greatly from the human-produced MaxPreps Xcellent 25 presented by the Army National Guard.

All top five squads, nine of the first 10 and 13 of 15 from the computer rankings were squads ranked in the Xcellent 25. But out of the last 10 on its list, only one — Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) — was part of the human rankings. The two MaxPreps entities didn't exactly agree on that team either. Grayson was No. 2 in the Xcellent 25 and the computer had the Rams at 18.

In all, nine teams from the computer Top 25 were not part of the Xcellent 25, but five were ranked from 26-50.
