Having upended Half Hollow Hills East 71-65 in the
NYSPHSAA Class 2A state championship contest, the 26-0 Warriors claimed Liverpool's first boys state basketball title and earned the No. 18 ranking in
MaxPreps' National Rankings!
MaxPreps and the New York Army National Guard arrived at Liverpool High School for the morning assembly celebrating Liverpool's basketball success and were greeted by Warrior head coach Ryan Blackwell, who said that he is returning seven seniors and that he is very excited about Liverpool's chances of winning it all again next year.
Shortly after Liverpool's administration and the student body arrived for the celebration, MaxPreps representative Matt Vecchione kicked off the ceremony by talking briefly about MaxPreps' team ranking system for the Tour of Champions. After congratulating the Warriors on being one of just 10 boys basketball teams to be honored on this year's TOC, Vecchione introduced Staff Sergeant Adam Toussaint of the New York Army National Guard.
SSG Toussaint, who lives in Liverpool, spoke of the dedication Liverpool demonstrated during its run to winning the championship and talked about how proud he was to be in attendance to present the Army National Guard national ranking trophy to Blackwell and the Warriors. Several Warriors took "selfies" with the trophy following the trophy presentation. It was a great day at Liverpool High School! Thank you for all of the hospitality as we near the end of another successful MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard.
