From Scottsbluff to Omaha, Hartington to Beatrice, and all points in between, basketballs will be dropping through nets throughout the Cornhusker State in February. In all, 459 contests featuring at least one Nebraska school are scheduled to tip off beginning Feb. 1. This week, we present to you our Top 10 basketball battles for February.
In our top matchup of the month, MaxPreps' Class A favorite Omaha Westside travels to Gretna to take on the seventh-ranked Dragons. Of course, both schools are ranked. Plus, there could be a little extra motivation for both schools when they compete for basketball greatness next month.
Our No. 2 pick has third-ranked Bellevue West traveling to fellow Class A hard court power Omaha Central, Nebraska's fourth-ranked big school squad, just before district play opens. Then, a No. 1 vs. No. 2 battle in Class D1 between top-ranked North Platte St. Patrick's and No. 2 Dundy County-Stratton gets the nod as our No. 3 game for February.
Norfolk Catholic travels to Cedar Catholic while Beatrice hosts Wahoo to round out February's Top 5 basketball tussles.
If your game wasn't mentioned in this week's Top 10, don't fret, there is still plenty of basketball action scattered throughout the state over the next few weeks heading into district play. So, buckle your seat belt and get ready for the basketball ride.
