Wisconsin high school girls basketball: Week 9 MaxPreps/WBCA Coaches Poll

No. 1 Arrowhead vs. No. 2 Wauwatosa East headlines this week's games.

Week 9 MaxPreps/WBCA Girls Basketball Coaches Poll 

This week's coaches poll had movement in the top five of three of the five divisions, including Eleva-Strum taking over the top spot in the Division 5 rankings. 

Five teams joined the top 10 this week: Brookfield East (Division 1), Milton (Division 2), Albany/Monticello (Division 4), Deerfield (Division 4), and De Soto (Division 5). 

Headlining this week's schedule is Wauwatosa East traveling to Arrowhead on Tuesday in a non-league showdown between unbeaten teams. They are the top two teams in the Division 1 MaxPreps/WBCA Coaches Poll, and the game could be a preview of the state title game. Tosa East has won its last 28 games, the longest streak in the state. 

In the national rankings, Arrowhead moved up two spots to No. 17 while Wauwatosa East is in the grouping of those on the bubble. 

Both squads feature a player in the running for Ms. Basketball. Arrowhead's Natalie Kussow, a University of Minnesota recruit, averages 27.9 points per game, while Wauwautosa East's Mikaia Litza, a DePaul University commit, tallies 18 points per contest. 

Another notable game on Tuesday is the FVA showdown between Appleton East and Kimberly. Appleton East won the first meeting 50-43 against the defending Division 1 state champions. 

Ava Van Vonderen, a Wisconsin commit, leads Kimberly with 14.6 points per game, while Ella Sweeney, a Division I prospect, tallies a team-high 14.4 points per game for Appleton East.
