The Texas high school football season kicks off this week and the Preseason Texas MaxPreps All-State Team is loaded with some of the country's best talent. Clemson-bound quarterback Cade Klubnik headlines the squad and is one of five Westlake (Austin) players.
The Elite 11 MVP over the summer racked up over 4,000 yards of total offense and 50 touchdowns as a junior while leading the Chaps to a 14-0 record and a No. 3 finish in the MaxPreps Top 25. They start No. 4 in this year's rankings.
The talent in the Lone Star State is spread out as six teams dot the MaxPreps Top 25 rankings.
Owen Allen and Tyler White both made the first team for No. 22 Southlake Carroll, which has four picks, while 2022 Texas A&M commit Malick Sylla was the lone first team selection for No. 17 Katy and also lands four players on the preseason squad.
Forty-one of the 54 players selected are seniors while the other 13 are all from the Class of 2023.
