Intriguing storylines abound in Class 6A with traditional powerhouses facing younger programs on the rise.

1. Cypress Ranch (Houston) 11-0 vs. Katy 9-2, 6A-DI Region III
7:30 p.m. Friday at Houston's NRG StadiumKaty has recovered from an 1-2 start, putting together a stretch of seven games in which it allowed no more than nine points. Sophomore
Deondrick Glass leads the Tigers offense with 1,843 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns. Cy-Ranch can attack with the passing of Blake Nevins (1,752 yards, 19 touchdowns) or the running of
E.J. Thompson (1,131 yards, 12 touchdowns). Katy has made it past the second playoff round in 14 consecutive seasons and is 23-2 in playoff games since 2011.
2. Carroll (Southlake) 10-1 vs. DeSoto 11-0, Class 6A-DII Region I
7:30 p.m. Friday in MurphyBoth teams won outright district titles. Since dropping their opener, the Dragons are undefeated.
Audricke Gaines has rushed for 1,417 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Mason Holmes has thrown for 2,204 yards and 15 scores.
For DeSoto, dual threat quarterback
Shawn Robinson, a TCU pledge, has thrown for 2,146 yards and rushed for 694 more. He's had a hand in 29 touchdowns.
3. Cedar Ridge (Round Rock) 11-0 vs. Klein Collins (Spring) 10-1, Class 6A-DII Region II
7 p.m. in BryanOnly a Week 2 50-49 double-overtime loss to Katy stands between Klein Collins and an unbeaten season.
D'Anthony Doyle leads Collins with 1,411 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
Garrett Sharp is the focal point of the Cedar Ridge offense, accounting for 26 of his 41 touchdowns through the air.
4. Lamar (Houston) 10-1 vs. Ridge Point (Missouri City) 11-0, Class 6A Division I Region III

Aaron Allen (1,894 yards, 23 touchdowns) and rushing from B.J. Rainford (863 yards, 11 touchdowns) has kept defenses off balance. Lamar counts on the running of
Ta'zhawn Henry (988 yards, 11 touchdowns) and the passing combination of
Owen Holt to receiver
Al'vonte Woodard (26 catches, 624 yards, 11 touchdowns).
5. Sachse 11-0 vs. The Woodlands 11-0, Class 6A-DI, Region II

Jalen Mayden has thrown for 2,423 yards and 24 touchdowns. A favorite target is
Nate Shelton with 43 catches for 945 yards and 14 scores. The Sachse defense has held opponents to one touchdown or less in five games. The Woodlands is fast becoming an offensive juggernaut, scoring 40 points or more in its last eight games. In a bi-district win over Horn (Mesquite), the Highlanders gained 357 yards on the ground led by 161 from
Carlos Ramos.
6. College Station 11-0 vs. Magnolia 10-1, Class 5A-DII Region III

Marquez Perez has thrown for 1,659 yards and 21 touchdown and rushed for 581 yards and scores for College Station. Magnolia's
Jacob Frazier has thrown for 2,115 yards and 30 touchdowns.
Michael Woods have been on the receiving end 42 times for 847 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Deaderick Hollaway (904 yards) deliver a 1-2 rushing punch for the Ricebirds. TCU pledge
Lakendrick Van Zandt rushed for 177 yards and three first-half touchdowns in Henderson's bi-district victory.
8. North Shore (Houston) 10-1 at Dickinson 10-1, Class 6A-DI Region III, 7 p.m. FridayDefending state champion North Shore has posted four shutouts with
Kieston Roach and
Jaylen Thomas patrolling the secondary. Dickinson saw its 2015 season end at the hand of North Shore, 45-14, in a fourth-round playoff.
9. George West 10-1 vs. Hallettsville 11-0, Class 3A-DI Region II 7:30 p.m. Friday in San AntonioDual-threat senior
Hunter Brown has thrown for 872 yards and rushed for 850 for George West. Hallettsville's defense has posted three shutouts and limited opponents to one touchdown in two other games.
10. Stratford 10-1 vs. Post 9-2, Class 2A-DI Region I 4 p.m. Friday, CanyonGage Brooks has rushed for 979 yards and 15 touchdowns for Stratford. Not to be outdone,
A.J. Reed has run for 2,173 yards and 27 touchdowns for Post.
